( dpa )- Rescuers were struggling Wednesday to reach two men who had been buried in debris when a lofty steel shelving system crammed with paper collapsed at a commercial warehouse in Germany.

Three others were pulled out with only minor injuries from the debris, comprising 2,000 to 3,000 tons of packaged paper and the remains of the 70-metre-long shelving system in the eastern city of Halle .

Rescuers said they had established the location of the two men, 27 and 33, both officials of the THW civil defence agency, who had been called to the site amid fears that the shelving was unsteady.

The wholesale warehouse management said a forklift truck had collided with the 13-metre-high stack the previous day. It collapsed Wednesday afternoon.
