Syrian rebels shot down a plane belonging to the country's Air Force on Thursday, Al Arabiya TV channel reported on Thursday.
The plane was shot down around Deraa near Damascus.
The Free Syrian Army previously stated that 61 military aircraft belonging to government troops have been shot down since the clashes began in the country.
Many of them were shot down during the bombing of residential areas in Syrian cities. The Syrian Air Force suffered losses of billions of dollars from the downing of its aircraft.
Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for more than a year and half. According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria exceeds 60,000.More than 230,000 have become refugees with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
