Leading Turkish journalist, Mehmet Ali Birand has died on Thursday at the age of 72 at the hospital where he underwent surgery, the Sabah newspaper reported.
The cause of death was deterioration in his health state during a gallbladder operation.
Birand has worked as a journalist in many leading newspapers in Turkey for many years. He wrote political articles and was also a leading news presenter on Kanal D TV channel.
In addition, Birand has written many political and social books.
