Azerbaijani embassy in Spain clarifies the presence of Azerbaijanis among the victims and survivors of the train crash in Spain, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Spain Altay Efendiyev told Trend on Thursday.

According to the latest stats the victims of the train accident in north-west of Spain amounted at least 77 people, with some 143 injured, France-Presse agency reported with reference to the representative of a regional court, RIA Novosti said.
It was earlier reported that the number of victims of the crash amounted to 69 people.

According to the agency, rescuers have recovered 73 bodies out of the wreckage. Another four persons died in the hospital.

The passenger train derailed near the Santiago de Compostela station. The accident occurred on Wednesday at 20:42 local time.

All 13 train cars overturned, the penultimate car was destroyed completely. In total there were 218 passengers on the train, as well as train driver and service personnel.
The rout where the crash took place connects Spanish capital of Madrid with the city of Ferrol.
