Azercell’s renewed mobile eye clinic continues its initiatives

Re-branded for the new school year, the Mobile Eye Clinic will support the deprived and refugees in Azerbaijan throughout September, according to a message from Azercell Telecom.

The Mobile Eye Clinic, a unique social project implemented by Azercell Telecom, the market leader in mobile technologies in Azerbaijan, is successfully continuing its operation.

Renewed after the re-branding for the new school year, the Mobile Eye Clinic intends to ensure prevention of eye diseases and complex examination of children deprived of parental care, also to cater for the elderly and the poor.

"The Mobile Eye Clinic's doctors, who this summer examined residents of Cardio-Rheumatology Sanatorium #39 in Lokbatan District, and refugees from the districts of Lachin and Zengilan resided in the city of Sumgait and IDPs in the Gala Township, will continue their initiatives in September as well," Azercell said.

The mobile clinic team will visit refugees, resided in the shelters in the districts of Pirshagi and Zabrat, as well as "Umid Yeri" shelter and a boarding school in Sumgait.

"The Clinic has already visited many boarding schools and orphanages in Baku. In addition, the doctors also examined children with visual impairment brought from the orphanages in the districts of Ganja, Lankaran, Gusar, as well as children living in the camps in the districts of Nabran, Guba and Khachmaz," the mobile operator said.

The Mobile Eye Clinic was launched June 1, 2011 on the International Children's Day. Up to date, some 2,000 children have benefited from the project that has gained immense popularity in Azerbaijan.

The organization is responsible for the supply of a service bus, selection of doctors, designing routes and destinations of the clinic. The project is implemented by the Caspian Compassion Project.

Azercell's initiative has become so popular that later some other companies also created similar mobile clinics and launched field visits with check-ups.

The company has repeatedly won local and international awards for social projects. Azercell was the first company to receive the "Company of the Year" award in the sphere of corporate social responsibility in 2007.
