Azerbaijani Parliament Developing Statement to Recognize Kurdish Worker Party as Terror Organization

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I.Alizade / The Azerbaijani Parliament is developing a statement to recognize the Kurdish Worker Party (PKK) as a terror organization, Oktay Asadov, the chairman of Milli Majlis {Azerbaijan Parliament] said at a parliamentary sitting on 6 November.

To adopt the statement on the recognition of the PKK as a terror organization, a special commission has been established in parliament.

During the previous session of the Milli Majlis MPs from the opposition raised the issue of recognition of PKK as a terror organization. The Turkish President Abdullah Gul said at a news conference with Azerbaijani journalists last week that Ankara was awaiting Azerbaijan's support in the issue of PKK.

The Turkish Parliament made the decision to conduct a military operation after the PKK's attacks at the border with Iraq, resulting in the death of 13 Turkish military. Ankara gained support from many countries of Europe, as well as the United States.
