Azerbaijan to be Represented by Foreign Minister at OIC Summit

Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 March /corr. Trend S.Agayeva / Azerbaijan will be represented at the summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Dakar by the Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, the Press Secretary of Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry, Khazar Ibrahim, briefed the media on 11 March.

Four key topics have been included in the agenda of the 11th session of the OIC at top level. The session will take place on 13-14 March in the capital of Senegal, the OIC Press Service reported to Trend earlier.

The summit will focus on the realizing the OIC Action Program, adoption of the re-devised variation of its Charter. Two sessions will be organized and exchange of views will be held on the economic co-operation between the OIC participating countries, especially between the African countries, the Press Service stated.

Up to now, 42 Presidents of the OIC countries confirmed their participation in the summit in Dakar, the same source said.

The Organization was established at the conference of the Heads of the States and Governments of the Muslim countries in 1969 in Rabat. The OIC brings together 57 member countries and 10 observer countries. Azerbaijan joined the OIC in 1992.

On 10 and 11 March, the meeting of the OIC Foreign Ministers takes place in the capital of Senegal where Azerbaijan is being represented by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Vagif Sadikhov, Ibrahim said.

An agreement will be signed and a joint announcement will be adopted as a result of the discussions.
