Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 march / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / Agil Shalala journalist with the Azadlig newspaper, who was stabbed in the chest, was discharged from hospital. This was reported by Members of the Editors Association to Trend after their meeting with the journalist.
Arif Aliyev, chairman of the Editors Association Yeni Nasil (New Generation), reported on the meeting held in connection with the recent attack on the journalist. The declaration, which condemns the incident was passed, The document requested for measures to be taken to punish persons responsible for the attack.
After the meeting the editors visited the journalist in hospital and spoke to Khalil's doctor who reported that Khalil could convalesce at home. However, Khalil believes that his wound has not healed.
On 13 March, at 8.00pm Agil Khalil, a journalist of the Azadlig newspaper, was stabbed in the chest by unknown assailants. He was immediately taken to the Clinical Medical Centre where he was operated on.
A criminal case has been filed on Article 128 of the Criminal Code. The investigation has been held by the Baku Central Police Station.
