Intercultural Dialogue Problems Must be Viewed through Women’s Eyes – Azerbaijan’s First Lady (video)

Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 June / Trend corr S. Agayeva/ "Intercultural dialogue problems must be viewed through women's eyes," Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, First Lady of Azerbaijan, stated to the international conference 'Improvement of Women's Role in Intercultural Dialogue' opened in Baku at on 10 June.

"During the recent 15 years scientists and politicians worldwide have been seeking for an answer to the question: dialogue or confrontation. The problems regarding removal of confrontation must be considered through women's eyes. Women always embody sincerity, friendship but not confrontation," she said.

The Baku Conference was organized through joint cooperation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO. The First Ladies of Poland, South Africa, Latvia, Angola, as well as the spouse of the Turkish Prime Minister, the spouse of Texas Governor, the spouse of the Argentinean Vice President, the Vice President of Russian Federation Council Svetlana Orlova, arrived in Baku to participate in the international conference. The conference was organized at the initiative of Mehriban Aliyeva.

"Women play a crucial role in settlement of social problems," the address by the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the participants of the conference says. According to the President, only with women's assistance the humankind can escape global problems.

President Aliyev attributed the international conference on women's role in development of intercultural dialogue as symbolic.
