Kazakhstan, Astana 3 July / corr. Trend K.Konirova / Joao Suares, a Portuguese representative, was elected the new chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). He was elected at the 17th session of the PA OSCE in Astana on 3 July.
Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev, the speaker of the Kazakh Senate, was elected the vice-chairman of the PA OSCE for 3-year term.
Goran Lenmarker, a Swedish parliamentarian, was the chairman of the PA OSCE since July 2006.
