Four Officers Killed, One Missing after Taliban Raid, Official Says

Afghanistan, Kabul, 15 September / Trend corr. A.Hakimi / TALIBAN militants have killed at least four policemen in central Afghanistan, a police spokesman said. The militants ambushed the officers in Ghazni province on Saturday, a spokesman for the governor, Said Ismael Jahanghir, said.

Local authorities collected the four policemen's bodies but one more officer was still missing, he said. Police acts as part of the government's front-line against Taliban fighters and often bear the brunt of vicious fighting.

More than 900 policemen were killed by insurgents in 2007.
