GUAM Observation Mission’s Head Says Voters Take Active Part in Azerbaijan’s Presidential Elections

Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 October / Trend corr. N.Abdullayeva/ Head of the GUAM observation mission says voters are taking an active part in the presidential elections in Azerbaijan.

"We have visited three voting stations but have not noticed any serious violation," Valeriy Chechelashvili, head of the GUAM mission, said to Trend on 15 October.  

"The elections are well organized. Materials and procedures have been organized so that to enable people to vote easy without problems," he said.

"There are small queues, for attendance is high. On the whole, we are satisfied with the voting. Everything is well organized and calm," said Chechelashvili.

Presidential elections take place in Azerbaijan today. Seven candidates take part in the elections, including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of ruling New Azerbaijan Party; Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party; Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party; Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party; Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party; Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.
