Azerbaijani’s Opposition Party not Taking Part in Presidential Election Congratulates Ilham Aliyev

Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 October/ Trend , corr A. Huseynbala/ Adalat (Justice) Party, who did not take part in presidential election with its own candidate, congratulated ruling party candidate Ilham Aliyev on winning election. 

Party decided to do so relying on the assessment of election results by over 500 election officers of the party monitoring the vote and party members who took part in the election.

Seven candidates were running for presidency at the 15 October presidential elections including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of Ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party, Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party, Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party, Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.

About 3,640,702 voters took part in the election.

About 3,230,340 of voters voted for ruling New Azerbaijan Party candidate and current President Ilham Aliyev. This makes up 88.73% of voters.

Igbal Agazade won 104,163 votes (2.86%), Fazil Gazanfaroglu 89,950 votes (2.47%), Gudrat Hasanguluyev 82,981 votes (2.28%), Gulamhuseyn Alibayli 81,110 votes (2.23%), Fuad Aliyev 28,402 votes (0.78%) and Hafiz Hajiyev 23,753 votes (0.65%).

The party said Adalat Party hopes that in the upcoming 5 years Ilham Aliyev will solve key problems of the country including resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in line with Azerbaijan's interest, preventing corruption and bribery and improving well-being of the population.
