Five hotels will be opened in Almaty in 2009, Mayor of Almaty Ahmatjan Esimov said.
"We feel need in such centres as Almaty is the centre of culture, finance and tourism," Esimov added.
A new Holliday Inn hotel was recently opened in Almaty. 150 people were provided with jobs.
It is difficult to open jobs in the terms of the global financial crisis, Esimov said.
