On March 27, Delhi hosted an international seminar entitled "Recalling Chingiz Aytmatov: from Socialist Realism to a Global Humanism", Kyrgyzstan Foreign Ministry told Trend on March 28.
The international seminar was organized by the Jawaharlal Nehru University, with support and participation of the embassies of Kyrgyzstan and Russia in India.
A representative delegation from Kyrgyzstan comprising 15 scientists and specialists arrived in Delhi to participate in the seminar. Chingiz Aytmatov's sister Rosetta Aytmatova arrived as an honored guest. An exhibition was organized in the library of the Jawaharlal Nehru University with the assistance of Kyrgyzstan's embassy in India.
Scientists and specialists from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and India were attending.
Students and post-graduates of the Russian Studies Center of the Language, Literature and Culture Department produced a staging of Aytmatov's works.
Prior to this event, the Jawaharlal Nehru University and the Kyrgyzstan-Russian Slavic University signed a memorandum on cooperation.
