The declaration adopted at the Council of Europe Ministerial in Madrid shows that the pressure of our partners on Russia yields fruit, Georgian parliament's Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Akakiy Minashvili told reporters.
"With the help of our partners we are achieving that the Russia will have to recede," he said.
The Council of Europe Declaration says the Russia-Georgia war will be discussed at each CE session. The 14th paragraph stipulates that the conflicts in the continent pose threat for democratic development. Therefore, all sides must comply with the documents adopted by international organizations.
Minashvili said the declaration urges Russia to assist with returning refugees to their lands from where they were evicted in August 2008.
"The declaration also says that Russia must fulfill six-item Sarkozy-Medvedev agreement signed on August 12, 2008," he said.
