Five mosques were burnt in the Asian part of Istanbul on May 19, no injured, a local mufti said.
Arson took place almost at the same time, which may testify an evil intent, but the police still had no data on the causes of fires and the attacker, the CNN-Turk TV channel reported.
According to the TV, firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Fires caused little damage to mosques, RIA Novosti reported.
In December 2008, the Istanbul police arrested a mentally ill person who burned 13 mosques on the same month, the Turkish media reported.
