Azerbaijan and Switzerland will outline ways of further development of political, economic and humanitarian relations. Perspectives of these relations will be discussed during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's first official visit to Switzerland in October, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Switzerland Elchin Amirbayov told Trend on May 20.
The visit will take place upon Swiss President Hans-Rudolf Merz's invitation. The Azerbaijani president repeatedly visited Switzerland and attended the World Economic Forum in Davos. This will be the first official visit to Switzerland, Amirbayov said.
At present, the visit is being prepared via diplomatic channels. Experts are coordinating drafts of bilateral documents which are planned to be signed during the Azerbaijani president's visit. The ambassador said. Within last 5-6 years, good enough agreement-legal base was formed between Azerbaijan and Switzerland, as well as many bilateral documents were signed and they are currently being implemented, the diplomat said.
Ex-President of Switzerland Pascal Couchepin paid an official visit to Azerbaijan in 2008.
The good turnover between Azerbaijan and Switzerland was 13.5 million in the first quarter of 2009, the Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee reported.
