One of purposes of U.S bases placed in Central Asia is creation of original counterbalance towards China, Russian expert on Central Asia, Leonid Gusev, said.

""The USA also places its bases in Central Asia not only to resist Islamic organizations based in Afghanistan but try to create original counterbalance towards China. China is extremely interested in cooperation with Central Asian countries, especially, in power engineering," senior scientist of International Research Institute of Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Gusev, told Trend by E-mail from Moscow.

Relations between China and other Central Asian Republics are developing.

Everybody knows about such projects as oil pipeline from Kazakhstan to China - Atasu-Alashankou. The second section of this pipeline is being put into operation. Moreover, the agreement on gas supply to China was signed between China and Turkmenistan.

Gusev said that such famous U.S analysts as Zbignev Bzhezinsky, consider that the USA will be able to aim undermining activity of Islamic organizations for China to create chaos there. So, the USA will try to undermine its competitor (China), growing more and more, inside.

"Last events in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region testify that these attempts are being taken. It is so-called theory of governed chaos," candidate of historic sciences, Gusev, said.

He said that this state of affairs in Central Asia will preserve for a long time. "Moreover, Central Asian elite are easily outbid. The last example with U.S base in Kyrgyzstan indicates to it clearly," expert said.

Moreover, Central Asian hydrocarbon reserves attract the USA, political scientist said.

He said that the USA are interested that stream of hydrocarbon to avoid Russia. "There is the following example. During hearings concerning his appointment ambassador to Senate Commission for foreign affairs in 2008, U.S current ambassador to Kazakhstan Richard Hoagland said that the USA have strategic interest in creation of new routes of energy resources transportation from Central Asia to Europe and the USA, for these routes not to pass through Russia," Gusev said.

He said that oil pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan was cited as example. Kazakhstan participates in this pipeline.
