Two people detained for crimes against state power in Azerbaijan: deputy minister

Roughly 11,180 crimes are registered in Azerbaijan in 2009.

"Two people were detained for crimes against state power in Azerbaijan. Roughly 38 criminals being in international investigation and 17 criminals investigated by Interpol members-countries were revealed by National Central Bureau of Interpol in Azerbaijan," Azerbaijani deputy interior ministry, Vilayat Eyvazov, said during summary report on work conducted in combat with criminality and security ensuring on July 31.  

Deputy minister said that despite number of crimes increased 7.5 percent compared to similar period of 2008. This number increased owing to crimes having no threat for public and slightly grave crimes. Number of grave crimes remained stabile. Premeditated murders reduced 9.9 percent, robberies - 23 percent, as well as blackmail with use of threat - 18.2 percent.      

Brigandage and taking hostages were not registered.

Crime detection hits 85.9 percent but grave and graver crimes - 81.8 percent. Roughly 277 crimes remained unrevealed in 2008 were revealed as a result of close cooperation and operative-investigation actions of prosecution.  

Number of investigated people reduced 9.9 percent for half of a year compared to similar period of 2008.
