Georgia, Tbilisi, August 10 / Trend , N.Kirtskhalia / The representative of the U.S. Department of State Matthew Bryza, who is on a farewell visit to Tbilisi, met with opposition leaders - Irakli Alasania and Nino Burjanadze, on August 10.
The meeting took place in closed manner and individually with each of them.
Bryza said he discussed with leaders of opposition the political situation in Georgia.
"We support the development of democracy in Georgia. We do not support any specific political forces. It is necessary to strengthen the democratic process as soon as possible to improve the situation," he said.
The meeting with Bryza focused on the possibilities of European Union observation mission in Georgia and the prospects for its expansion, the leader of the Alliance for Georgia, Alasania, said.
"Discussions were also held on the activities of the international humanitarian organizations, and continuation of this work after closing the OSCE and UN missions," he said.
Leader of Democratic Movement - Unified Georgia told journalists that Bryza got acquainted with the kidnapping of her party's activist Amirani Bitsadze.
"Bryza expressed his support for us in our demand for an objective investigation on Bitsadze Amiran's case," said Burjanadze.
Bitsadze was kidnapped by unknown on Sunday and remains in hospital. Democratic Movement - Unified Georgia accuses the authorities of his kidnapping.
