Azerbaijan to rely on national interests in annulling visa regime with Iran: FM
Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 11 / Trend , U.Sadikhova/
Azerbaijan will consider the abolition of the visa regime with Iran, regarding national interests.
"If Iranians appeal to Azerbaijan with a proposal to consider the possibility of removing visa by our country, we will consider this proposal and the decision will be made on the basis of our national interests," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Elkhan Polukhov said to Trend .
The Iranian Cabinet of Ministers has decided to unilaterally annul the visa regime with Azerbaijan, Iranian television reported.
The proposal was sent to the Iranian Foreign Ministry by First Deputy President Mohammad Reza Rahimi.
In late October, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki submitted to the government a bill on annulling the visa regime with Azerbaijan.
"At present the visa regime with Iran is rather simplistic and there are no problems in obtaining visas for Iranian citizens to Azerbaijan," said Polukhov.
