Azerbaijani opposition party offers to establish allied bloc

Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan.12 / Trend , M.Aliyev /

The Azerbaijani Liberal Party has offered to participate in the 2010 parliamentary elections with two blocs, Acting Chairman Avez Temirkhan told Trend today.

Parliamentary elections will be held in Azerbaijan in autumn 2010. The previous elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections are held on the majority system in 125 constituencies.

Temirkhan said by establishing a coalition with the Azadlig bloc, the opposition will have sufficient pre-election airtime.

"The opposition should launch discussions without media outlets to discuss this option," Temirkhan said.

Azadlig was established on the threshold of the 2005 parliamentary elections. The Azerbaijani Popular Front, Citizen and Development and Liberal parties are represented in the bloc. After the 2005 elections, the Azerbaijani Democratic Party and Musavat left Azadlig.
