Azerbaijani president receives heads of CIS security agencies and intelligence services
President Ilham Aliyev has today received heads of delegations participating in the eleventh Baku meeting of the Council of Heads of CIS Intelligence Services and Security Agencies, AzerTAj state news agency reported.
President Ilham Aliyev pointed out the 11th meeting had been very well organized in Baku and provided a forum for effective discussions. The Head of State noted the joint activity of special services from the CIS member countries play a key role in ensuring peace, stability and security.
"Azerbaijan is determined to take active part in CIS's workings. We actively take part in various formats - both in humanitarian sphere, economic cooperation and of course, in insuring security and stability. Our security bodies cooperate both on a bilateral and multilateral basis and we are hopeful this cooperation will be continued", the President emphasized.
He expressed assurance that the 11th meeting would give a strong impetus to the fight against international terrorism, extremism, radicalism and other challenges.
"I am sure security of our countries can be insured fully only thanks to the close cooperation with neighbors, partners and friendly countries. Today, the world sees the expansion of technologies and opportunities of not only state bodies and security agencies since those trying to make an attempt on peaceful life of our citizens, create alarm and chaos also possess high technologies. You, of course, know it better and more. I am sure exchange of secret information and close cooperation will help escape many troubles," Azerbaijani leader said.
President Ilham Aliyev underlined mutual fruitful cooperation and joint efforts of CIS countries play an important role in creating guarantees of security in the region and all over the world. The Head of State pointed out that no state including the strongest ones is insured against such global threats as international terrorism.

Chairman of the Council, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Mikhail Fradkov noted CIS special services strengthen their ties and share their ideas in order to combine their efforts.
He pointed out the National Security Ministry of Azerbaijan enjoys a good reputation and takes an active part in fulfillment of tasks facing CIS special services.
According to Fradkov, the participants of the meeting had fruitful discussions on the ways of prevention of threats to international security.
