Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 16 / Trend K.Zarbaliyeva /

An individual suspected in murder of Azerbaijani Supreme Court's judge Tapdig Mahmudov's wife Natavan Mahmudova was arrested.

A resident of Baku, thirty-eight years old  Khalida Ahmadova was arrested in connection with the crime, the Baku City Prosecutor's Office told Trend today.

The criminal case was filed under Article 120.2.5 (premeditated murder committed on mercenary prompting or by order, as well as with a view of use a body of a victim) of the Criminal Code. The case transferred to the Baku City Prosecutor's Office.

The incident took place at about 13:00 on Oct.15 at 47, Chobanzade St., flat 30. The 39-year-old Natavan Mahmudova was killed by unknown individuals.

According to the preliminary conclusion of forensic expertise, she was killed as a result of suffocation (asphyxia).

According to the information, Mahmudova was in housecoat. She opened the door to her acquaintances. The murder was committed by Mahmudova's close acquaintances.

Ahmadova was in debt to Mahmudova for $7,000, a source in the law-enforcement agency told Trend.  She refused to pay back her debt for about three years, which may be a reason for a quarrel between the women. During this quarrel, Ahmadova suffocated Mahmudova with mattress.

The Baku Central Police Department reported that, Ahmadova was arrested on Oct.15 at her house on the Chobanzade St. as a result of operation-search activities. Ahmadova is suspected of murdering Mahmudova.

Ahmadova admitted to a culpable homicide charge in her preliminary testimony.

The investigation revaluated that, the crime was committed for mercenary purposes. A large sum of money and jewelry was stolen from the house.
