Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 7 /Trend, T.Hajiyev/
E-voting which was introduced for the first time in the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan has been successful, the Parliament-2010 Election Monitoring Coalition said.
"E-voting was held for the first time. It has no legal basis, it carries the test character. This system is used in the developed countries. The system has successfully passed the test phase. The aim was to find out public opinion," a coalition member Ahmed Gashamoglu said Sunday at a press conference held after voting ended.
According to him, work will be undertaken to improve the e-voting system for the next elections. According to the coordinator of the Coalition Rasim Sharifli, 25,442 voters participated in e-voting.
According to observers of the coalition in 80 constituencies, voter turnout was 43.8 percent. This is not the final figure.
The Azerbaijani CEC reported that 690 candidates are running for the parliamentary elections.
