Azerbaijani political analyst: Baku must respond to anti-Azerbaijani actions in Iran

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 3 / Trend M. Aliyev /

Baku must react to the anti-Azerbaijani actions in Iran, or they will threaten Azerbaijan, Political Innovation and Technology Center Director Mubariz Ahmadoglu told Trend.

"Azerbaijan has enough resources to fight Iran. We must use the opportunities of our diaspora in such issues," he said at a press conference dedicated to the results of international and regional sociopolitical processes in January 2011.

Some circles in Iran are trying to interfere in Azerbaijan's internal affairs, he said. The Iranian TV channel Seher-2 is conducting propaganda against Azerbaijan's statehood, he added.

He said that although Iran is an Islamic republic, it supports Armenia.

At present, Iran does not support normal partnership relations with its neighbors, the analyst said.

"Its relations with Azerbaijan are important for Iran in terms of the international relations of this Islamic country," he underscored.

He said that the activity of the Islamic Culture Center in Azerbaijan provokes tensions in the ties between the two countries. It is necessary to develop a report on its activities and to suspend its work, the analyst said.
