Military cooperation has been discussed between Azerbaijan and Italy.
Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel-General Safar Abiyev has today met with Chief of General Staff of the Italian Armed Forces, General Bias Abrate who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, the Defense Ministry told Trend today.
Stressing that since Azerbaijan has gained independence, it gives priority to cooperation with EU and other international organizations, Safar Abiyev informed the guest about the military-political situation in the region and the problems hampering the peaceful settlement of
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Abiyev stressed that the Azerbaijani lands are under occupation for 20 years. The country has more than a million refugees. He stressed that Armenia does not abandon its aggressive policy.
Increasing Azerbaijani Armed Forces' combat readiness and liberating the occupied lands are the priorities in this situation.
Military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy was discussed at the meeting.
