Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov meets with Uruguayan counterpart Luis Almagro Lamas.
Luis Almagro said that the visit of the Azerbaijani delegation is the first official visit in the history of relations between the two countries and also expressed hope that bilateral visits will contribute to the development of relations between two countries, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry press service told Trend on Saturday.
Mammadyarov spoke about the historical roots of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, the documents adopted by international organizations in connection with the conflict, our country's position on the settlement, also noting that the resolution of the conflict to lead to sustainable peace and stability in the region.
An the meeting noted the importance of cooperation between the two countries in political, economic and humanitarian spheres and in the organization of mutual visits at high level, the development of legal framework, as well as cooperation within international organizations.
Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues, in particular on the role of Azerbaijan in global energy security, regional cooperation and integration.
At the end of the meeting, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and Luis Almagro, signed an agreement exempting visas for persons that had diplomatic, official and service passports. Also, an agreement was signed on cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Artigas Foreign Service Institute of Uruguay.
