The Georgian Prime Minister was shown the long term development plan for the country's Armed Forces submitted to him by the Defence Minister and Chief of General Staff of Armed Forces.

As Bidzina Ivanishvili told journalists after a meeting at the Defence Ministry, the meeting was interesting when the minister and his deputies showed him the plans. He said Georgia will have a professional army by 2016.

"Mention was made that the country seeks to join NATO. At the expense of domestic resources, Alasania was able to increase the wages of 89 per cent of the military personnel by 26 per cent. Salaries of Georgian troops in Afghanistan also increased," he said.

According to Ivanishvili, there has been a disastrous situation on many issues in the ministry.
