The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly decided to send a short mission to Azerbaijan to observe the presidential elections, the OSCE PA told Trend on Friday.

The observation mission is to visit the country several days before the elections, the statement said.

The mission's composition has not been defined yet, but it is stated that each delegation presented in the OSCE PA, can only send one observer.

OSCE PA Bureau observers will also join the mission.

OSCE Chairman Leonid Kojara appointed the head of the French delegation to the OSCE PA Michel Voisin as Special Coordinator of short observation mission. When the delegation is determined, OSCE PA President Ranko Krivokapic will appoint the head of the observation mission.

Presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held October 9.

The previous presidential elections were held on October 15, 2008.

Azerbaijan holds presidential elections every five years.
