Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 13

Rufiz Hafizoglu-Trend: Turkey has never supported Al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations in Syria, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, NTV TV Channel reported on Nov.13.

According to him, Turkey is pursuing a correct policy towards Syria.

Earlier Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey doesn't support the Syrian wing of Al-Qaeda and other radical Islamic groups.

According to Erdogan, for Turkey there is no difference between the terrorist organisations and Ankara will always fight against terrorism.

He also stressed that only the Free Syrian Army is legitimate for Turkey.

During the conflict in Syria which began in March 2011, more than 115,000 people were killed in the country and over 4.2 million became refugees in Syrian territory and two million fled to neighbouring countries. The main burden of receiving refugees lay on Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. The total population of Syria before the conflict amounted to 20 million.
