Azerbaijani Defense Ministry hosts meeting under prime minister’s chairmanship

Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has hosted a meeting under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, according to a message posted on the ministry's website on Jan. 28.
The meeting discussed the instructions given by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Azerbaijani Armed Forces, President Ilham Aliyev, on the development of army building, according to the message.
During the meeting, the combat readiness and morale of the Azerbaijani armed forces were praised.
The defense spending in Azerbaijan's state budget for 2014 is set at 2.95 billion manats, or 14.7 per cent of the total budget expenditure. These funds are intended to strengthen national security, defense capability and the appropriate material-technical base.
The defense industry has significantly developed in Azerbaijan in recent years. In 2013 the volume of defense production in Azerbaijan increased by 3.7 percent compared to the previous year, the number of kinds of defense products exceeded 900.
