Azerbaijani president, Georgian PM hold expanded meeting

Following the private meeting, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili held an expanded meeting, with the participation of delegations on Sept. 11.

Following the private meeting, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili held an expanded meeting, with the participation of delegations on Sept. 11.

Welcoming the Georgian delegation, President Aliyev expressed his confidence that the visit would contribute to the development of brotherly bilateral relations. The president said the ties between the two countries and peoples had great history, adding that the two peoples had always lived in peace and stability.

Ilham Aliyev said Azerbaijan and Georgia were closely cooperating in the region. The president said the meeting involving the delegations would see discussions over various areas of bilateral relations.

The president added that the ministers were maintaining close contacts in dealing with the issues of bilateral and regional cooperation.

Garibashvili in turn said he was honored to be visiting Azerbaijan. Saying that he is accompanied by a delegation for the first time, Garibashvili said Georgia and Azerbaijan were close friends, strategic partners, neighbors and brotherly countries. He noted the importance of deepening the relations.
