President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has congratulated his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the occasion of the country's national holiday.
"On my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan I extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes to you and through you to all the people of Turkey on the occasion of the national holiday of fraternal Turkey - Republic Day," said the president.
Aliyev noted that Turkey has gained big influence in the region and in the world as a modern country the political system of which is based on democratic principles and strong economy.
"We are happy for Turkey's accomplishments on the international arena," said the congratulatory letter.
Azerbaijan and Turkey are bound together by ties of strong friendship and fraternity that benefit from deep historical and national roots, said the president.
"Built on these foundations, our inter-governmental relations clearly testify to our alliance and solidarity," Aliyev added.
"I am confident that our large-scale, fruitful and active cooperation in political, economic and cultural areas, our firm position that expresses a preference for our mutual interests with respect to international affairs will further contribute to the progress of our countries and prosperity of our people," said the congratulatory letter.
"On this joyful day, I once again congratulate you, wish you robust health, happiness, success in your activities, and the fraternal people of Turkey lasting peace and prosperity," President Aliyev added.
Azerbaijan's president also congratulated Turkey's Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on this occasion.
"I cordially congratulate you and the people of your country on the occasion of the national holiday of fraternal Turkey - the Republic Day," said Aliyev.
"Azerbaijani-Turkish friendship and fraternity stems from the will of our people that share common moral values," he noted. "Our unity and solidarity that have withstood all challenges throughout the history make the foundation of our inter-governmental relations."
"I believe that unity and strong partnership between our countries will play a vital role in our reaching the goals that we set, realizing large-scale economic projects and strengthening our international positions," said the congratulatory letter.
"I extend my best wishes to you, and wish the fraternal people of Turkey everlasting peace and prosperity," Aliyev added.
