The Nuclear Security Summit Opening Plenary: National Actions to Enhance Nuclear Security, in the US has kicked off in Washington, April 1.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, along with heads of other states participated in the session.

The fourth and final Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) is taking place between March 31 and April 1 in Washington D.C.

The NSS is a world summit at the leader level created by Barack Obama's administration, aimed at preventing nuclear terrorism and securing vulnerable nuclear materials worldwide.

The first summit of its kind, in Washington D.C. in 2010, brought together over 50 heads of state, the largest gathering of world leaders since the founding of the UN. Additional summits took place in Seoul, South Korea, in 2012 and in The Hague, the Netherlands, in 2014.
