Azerbaijan and Dagestan have a lot of joint projects on the agenda, Ramazan Abdulatipov, head of Russia's Dagestan Republic, told Trend in an exclusive interview in Baku May 12.

Abdulatipov, who is on a visit to Baku, said the purpose of his trip is to fully realize Dagestan's potential, its historic role and closeness to Azerbaijan for intensifying the Russia-Azerbaijan relations.

"Today, we will discuss a lot of projects, including those in the sphere of culture at [Azerbaijan's] Ministry of Economy," he added.

A large number of projects, including those on restoring Derbent and opening a street named after Heydar Aliyev, are already under implementation, said Abdulatipov.

"The cooperation between our countries will continue. We have got support from Azerbaijan's president," he added.

Abdulatipov noted that before visiting Azerbaijan, he had agreed many points of cooperation with Russia's presidential administration.

"We intend to give the highest possible momentum to the Russia-Azerbaijan relations by holding the 'Days of Dagestan' in Azerbaijan," he added.

Currently, there are many logistics, agricultural, cultural and sports projects on the agenda of cooperation, he said, adding those projects can significantly improve the cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan.
