The New Azerbaijan Party has been victorious in all elections, said Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev at the party’s 6th congress.
President Aliyev reminded that the party marked its 25th anniversary in November 2016.
“Over these 25 years, the party has gone a successful and glorious path. The ruling New Azerbaijan Party has won all the elections in which it participated, and these 25 years are a chronicle of victories. The founding conference of the party, held in Nakhchivan under the chairmanship of great leader Heydar Aliyev in 1992, was a historic event. At that time the creation of the party was a turning point. It is unknown in which direction the country would have developed if the party wasn’t created at the time,” said the Azerbaijani president.
President Aliyev reminded that at that time the country was facing very serious problems.
“We can say that Azerbaijan, its young independence were under threat,” said the president, adding that the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP) and Musavat duo, which illegally seized the power in 1992, was leading the country to an abyss.
“Economic regress in Azerbaijan, paralyzed industry, political, economic, and then military crises practically put our independence under question. In such situation, the Azerbaijani people turned to their leader, and the creation of the party, of course, played a decisive role.”
“We remember well and, undoubtedly, party members and the Azerbaijani public know that the authorities, who illegally seized power at that time didn’t allow the party congress to be held in Baku. Activists, patriots arrived in Nakhchivan, and under the chairmanship of Heydar Aliyev, an appeal was made to establish the party. A few months after, Heydar Aliyev came to the power at the request of the people, and the country embarked on the path of development,” noted President Aliyev.
“The civil war, broken out by the APFP-Musavat duo, was stopped and illegal armed formations were disarmed, order was established, a basis for national civic solidarity was laid, the ideology of Azerbaijanism was declared and it is our main ideological support today,” said the head of state.
“The country’s Constitution was adopted, serious reforms began in the economy and the political sphere, Azerbaijan succeeded to get out of international isolation, and the truth about the country was conveyed to the world community,” added the president.
“In short, Azerbaijan has been following the path of successful development since 1993, and the main condition for development – stability – has been fully restored, because there can be no development without stability,” said President Aliyev.
