Baku, Azerbaijan, March 13
By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:
Since the day of signing the order to hold the presidential election in Azerbaijan, the election process has been taking place in an absolutely transparent and democratic manner, within the Azerbaijani legislation and in compliance with all the norms of the Electoral Code, Fazail Agamali, the Azerbaijani MP, leader of the Ana Veten party, told Trend March 13.
Agamali noted that equal possibilities were created for all the candidates at the election.
“Candidacies of seven people have been already registered,” Agamali said. “I’m sure that equal possibilities will be created for all candidates in the following stages as well, and the election will be held in an absolutely transparent and democratic manner reflecting the will of the Azerbaijani people.”
Regarding boycotting of the election by an organization, which calls itself the “National Council of Democratic Forces”, Agamali added that it is not really a boycott, but rather a tactics chosen by the radical opposition in order to hide its weakness.
“On the other hand, it’s not excluded that the anti-Azerbaijani forces also influence boycotting of the election, because the opposition is closely related with them,” he said. “It would be more correct if the opposition admits that it doesn’t participate in the presidential election.”
He added that the boycott of the radical opposition in no way will be able to affect the democratic and fair conduct of the election in Azerbaijan.
Presidential election will be held in Azerbaijan on April 11.
