BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili, Trend reports via the ministry.
According to the ministry, Bayramov congratulated Pololikashvili on his re-election as the Secretary-General of the UNWTO.
Noting that Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to the development of tourism, the minister stressed that the country is carrying out large-scale work to develop infrastructure in this area.
He informed the secretary-general was about Azerbaijan's interest in expanding tourism opportunities both at the country and at the regional level.
Besides, Bayramov spoke about the opportunities in the field of tourism in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from Armenian occupation [in the 2020 second Karabakh war].
Thanking Azerbaijan for supporting his candidacy, Pololikashvili noted the high potential for the development of tourism in the country, as well as in the region, and the readiness of the UNWTO to implement joint projects with the country.
In this context, he stressed the importance of implementing programs in the field of education and innovations together with the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan and relevant structures.
