BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 23. Every effort should be made to bridge the Azerbaijani and Armenian positions on the peace treaty, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during a press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, held today in Moscow, Trend reports.
"Today we touched upon the topic of the peace treaty. We believe that it is necessary to do everything to bring the parties closer. At a certain stage, it seemed that the initial proposals of Azerbaijan, which were positively received from the Armenian side, would create a basis for the development of an appropriate legal document. The need for Russia's assistance in the negotiation process is recognized by the sides," he said.
Lavrov noted that Russia, more than anyone else, is interested in establishing a lasting and just peace in this region.
