BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan has upheld its decisions regarding the candidacies for the upcoming extraordinary parliamentary election after reviewing appeals from candidates Vahid Gojayev from the Hajigabul-Kurdamir constituency, Fakhraddin Mehdiyev from the Binagadi-Garadagh constituency, and Araz Shahverdiyev from the Jebrayil-Gubadli constituency, Trend reports.
The CEC has opted not to overturn the decisions made by the District Election Commissions (DEC), thus maintaining the status quo regarding these candidates.
The candidates in Hajigabul-Kurdamir constituency No. 63 were Rafael Huseynov, Agil Aslanov, Sugra Jabarova, Vusala Shukurlyu, Elnur Tagiyev, Vahid Gojaev and Ilham Mayilov. The elections ended with the victory of Rafael Huseynov in this constituency.
In Binagadi-Garadagh constituency No. 11, the candidates were Sabina Khasayeva, Behbud Mammadzade, Minakhanim Allahverdiyeva, Vusal Gurbanli, Gunel Hasanova, Tural Jafarov, Nijat Abbasov, Murad Alishov, Fakhraddin Mehdiyev, Ali Ibragimov, Telman Aleskerov and Emil Yusubov. The elections in this constituency ended with the victory of Sabina Khasayeva.
In Jabrail-Gubadli constituency No. 120, the candidates were Jeyhun Mammadov, Araz Shahverdiyev, Sardar Ismailov, Natavan Agayeva, Gulchohra Huseynova, Mushfig Mehtikhanov and Hidayat Allahverdi. The elections in this constituency ended with the victory of Jeyhun Mammadov.
To note, on September 1, the snap parliamentary election was held in Azerbaijan.
A total of 112,749 local observers were registered to observe the election. More than 65,000 of them were representatives of political parties. The number of registered international observers was 598, representing 51 organizations and 69 countries.
Out of 990 registered candidates in the parliamentary election, 305 were representatives of 25 political parties. Even though 371 candidates were affiliated with political parties, their respective parties did not nominate them. 676 candidates were affiliated with a political party.
