SESSION OF PACE MONITORING COMMITTEE NOT TO DISCUSS ANY ISSUE ON AZERBAIJAN

“I will not participate in the forthcoming session of the PACE Monitoring Committee to be held in Antalia, Turkey, but I can say that the major issues in the agenda will be linked with the state in Moldova and Ukraine. The agenda does not include an issue on Azerbaijan,” Andreas Herkel, the PACE co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan, told Trend.

В"There is not a schedule on discussion on situation in Azerbaijan, as the resolution on Azerbaijan was adopted in June session of the PACE,В" Herkel underscored. In compliance with a relevant agreement, Andreas Gross will leave for Antalia, he noted.

In reply to question on opportunities for discussion of issues on Azerbaijan in the PACE October session, Herkel said that if there appear any new aspects, the debates are probable. However, two comprehensive reports have been submitted on Azerbaijan, he stressed. .

The PACE co-rapporteur said that many politicians and public figures of Europe were familiar with the current state of developments in Azerbaijan and some of them will arrive in Baku to observe the parliamentary elections.

The mission including MPs Bakhtiyar Aliyev, Naira Shakhtakhtinskaya and Asim Mollazada will represent Azerbaijan in the gathering to be held on Thursday and Friday.
