The Azerbaijan National Municipal Association (NMA) might play an important role in social-economic development of regions, therefore, a strategy with the regard of each region` specifics has to be prepared, the EC consultant on the post-conflict issues, Owen Martins told at the third meeting of the work group for the National Municipal Association (NMA) creation, Trend reports.
The NMA should deal with the activity of the particular urban, rural or village municipality, he said.
Trainings and seminars will soon be held, where both municipalities heads and their subordinates will participate. We decided that participation in all trainings
and seminars will be free of charge, he added.
Masters gave examples of successful trainings conducted by the representatives of the International Fund on Electoral Systems (IFES) in Lokbatan and Ali-Bayramli municipalities of the country. The major aim of the given trainings was in the strategic planning and transparency, he said, adding that their number should be increased.
NMA is expected to be created at the beginning of 2007. The third meeting of the NMA work group took place in Baku in Crescent Beach Hotel. The organizational structure and domestic management of local governments was discussed at the meeting, Trend reports.
