World famous violoncellist, head of the Silk Road project, UN free will ambassador, Yo-Yo Ma will hold a concert in the Azerbaijani State Music house named after M. Magomayev on May 19.
Yo-Yo Ma ordered Azerbaijani composer, Firengiz Alizadeh to write music for the ballet The Great Silk Road in frames of the Silk Road project, Trend reports. As a result, Alizadeh` s composition Dervish (based on Nasimi poems) became part of Yo-Yo Ma` s tour, which he started in Germany.
Azerbaijani musicians- Ikram Najafov (tutek), Tarana Aliyeva (canon) and Alim Gasimov (performing a part of Dervish) were invited to participate in the program.
Enchanted by the beauty of Azerbaijani music, Yo -Yo Ma in private conversations with Azerbaijani musicians several times expressed wish to visit Azerbaijan in order to have closer encounters with the Azerbaijani musical culture.
