Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan Successfully Keeps On Its Foreign Policy

For the last two years Azerbaijan has successfully continued pursuing its foreign policy, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev told during the annual meeting of the heads of diplomatic missions to Azerbaijan being held in Baku on August 14,Trend reports.

According to him, Azerbaijan with a deep confidence has defended its positions both bilaterally and within international organizations. I can say that over the last two years Azerbaijan`s positions has significantly strengthened both in the region and in the World. Our relations in bilateral format with all countries are built on very positive basis, on principles of mutual respect and trust. The Head of the State also underlined that over the last 2,5 years he has paid visits to countries which are the UN Security Council member-states.

This is an excellent indicator in itself. By its population and territory, Azerbaijan is not a big country. Fruitful relations with many leading countries speak about Azerbaijan`s importance on the one hand, and about the success of its foreign policy on the other hand, added the President. Ilham Aliyev has stated once more that relations between Azerbaijan and all other countries are developed successfully, and that Azerbaijan will keep on this position even stronger in the future.

The President also told that works carrying out in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan`s position have already had their important influence on processes happening in the region. Keeping sound relations with the neighbouring countries, and their strengthening strength our position, and makes the role of Azerbaijan in the region more important. I would like to tell once more that these relations are built on positive fundaments and meet our national interests. Our relations with the neighbouring countries must be the priority for us in the future. They must be developed in the spheres of policy, economy, and culture, summarized the President.
