Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend P.Amirjanov / On 20 April the President of Azerbaijan issued a decree improving the activities of the libraries in Azerbaijan.
The decree says that the libraries are national richness of Azeri people. "Our libraries play a significant role in keeping and protecting historical and cultural, creative and scientific-philosophic heritages of Azeri people," stated by the decree.
The decree says that as a result of the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, the libraries and their branches containing more that 4 mln book have fully destroyed.
The State Head of Azerbaijan gave relevant tasks to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, executive powers and other related bodies to enrich the activities of the libraries, create online library of the Azerbaijani literature and prepare State Program on Development of Libraries in 2008-2013.
