Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / Akif Shahbazov, the Open Society Party's chairman, has stated that it is impossible to gather Azerbaijani opposition parties together to find ways of resolving current problems.

According to Shahbazov, the party tries to organize forums, dedicated to discussing national problems in Azerbaijan, but cannot achieve unity of political parties.

"Currently one Azerbaijani party cannot change the existing socio-political situation. Therefore, all political parties should cooperate. We cannot gather opposition parties together to discuss national problems in Azerbaijan," Shahbazov said.

The Open Society Party has already held a forum and now it is the turn of other parties.

The Open Society Party was founded in April 2007. Rasul Guliyev, Azerbaijan's former Speaker, is the head of the party. Guliyev and his supporters separated from the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan in February 2007 and established the Open Society Party.
