Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I.Alizade / In August an Assembly of the opposition alliance Our Azerbaijan made a resolution to hold an irregular meeting in Baku on 19 August.
The meeting heard the annual reports read by the Chairman of Our Azerbaijan, Vugar Beyturan, and the Chairman of the Assembly, Hasan Hasanov. They also discussed relations with the political movement Way of Azerbaijan, and the elections for the chairman of the alliance which is scheduled for 25 August. A proposal to rename the Alliance resulted in tense disputes and the issue was postponed to an indefinite time.
The opposition alliance Our Azerbaijan was established on the eve of the 2003 presidential elections with aim of supporting the candidacy of Isa Gambar, leader of the Musavat party. It resulted that Musavat was excluded from the alliance. At present the alliance unites 8 political parties.
