Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / The Azerbaijani Ex-Health Minister's Attorney was sentenced to four years imprisonment. The court concluded the crime of Rizvan Talibov, the Director of the Committee on Protection of Rights of the Azerbaijani Ex-Health Minister, Ali Insanov, and the Chairman of the Public Union for Return to West Azerbaijan, was confirmed by investigation and thus he was sentenced to four years imprisonment, according to Sumgayit City Court.
During the trial at the Sumgayit City Court presided over by Judge Tahmina Khalilova, the public prosecutor asked the court to sentence Talibov to four years imprisonment.
Talibov was charged in compliance with Article 221.2.2 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.
The criminal case with regards to Rizvan Talibov, the Director of the Committee on Protection of Rights of the Azerbaijani Ex-Minister of Health, Ali Insanov, and the Chairman of the Public Union for Return to West Azerbaijan, was filed on the basis of the appeal of his neighbour. He is being kept in Investigation Cell 3 in Shuvalan settlement. In a recent statement to the press, Talibov included himself in the list of jailed journalists.
